Why Choose

Engineered floor

Engineered oak isn’t just a floor for now,it’s a long-term investment. With a genuine hardwood wear layer, it can be sanded and refinished over the years, allowing you to restore its original beauty instead of replacing it. That means durability, longevity, and real value under your feet.

Why choose

Engineered floor

Engineered hardwood oak gives you the authentic warmth and character of solid timber, but with far greater stability. Its layered construction resists movement from temperature and humidity changes, making it ideal for modern homes, including open-plan spaces without compromising on that premium, natural look.

FAQ

How is a engineered oak made?

Engineered oak flooring is made using a layered construction. The top layer is a real oak hardwood veneer, the part you see and walk on, which gives the floor its natural grain and character. Beneath that, multiple layers of high-density plywood or hardwood are bonded together in a cross-layered structure. This design increases strength and stability, reducing movement caused by temperature and humidity changes while still offering the beauty of genuine oak.

Price vs quality

Engineered oak flooring varies in price depending on its construction and finish quality. Higher-priced boards typically feature a thicker real oak wear layer (allowing for more sanding over time), a stronger multi-layer core for improved stability, and superior manufacturing standards. They also use higher-grade oak with more consistent colour, fewer knots, and refined grain selection. Lower-priced options may have thinner top layers, simpler core construction, and more natural variation in grading, which can still look beautiful, but reflects a different level of refinement and longevity.

How to clean engineered oak floor?

Engineered floors are simple to clean and maintain thanks to their durable protective coatings. A quick sweep, vacuum, or light mop is all it takes to keep them looking their best. With the right finish, they handle everyday spills well, just wipe up moisture promptly and avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners to protect the surface and preserve the finish

Do engineered oak floors fade?

Engineered real oak is a natural product, so like all genuine timber, it can gradually change colour when exposed to sunlight. UV light may cause slight fading or darkening over time, depending on the grade and finish chosen. This is a natural ageing process that adds character to the floor. Using window coverings or UV-protective glass can help minimise strong colour shifts, allowing the oak to mature evenly and beautifully over the years.

Installing as floating or glue down floor?

Engineered flooring can typically be installed either as a floating floor or glued down, depending on the product and site conditions.

A floating installation involves clicking or joining the boards together over an underlay without fixing them directly to the subfloor. This method is quicker to install and works well in many residential applications.
A glue-down installation secures the boards directly to the subfloor using adhesive. This provides a more solid feel underfoot, improved sound performance, and is often preferred for larger areas or when installing over underfloor heating.

The best method depends on the specific board, subfloor type, and project requirements, always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for optimal performance.
